Master's Degree Programs

I.Information and Communication Engineering (Academic Master's Degree)

The Information and Communication Engineering program is affiliated with the School of Information and Electronic Engineering at Zhejiang Gongshang University. Established in 1979 for undergraduate studies and in 2001 for master's studies, the program attained a first-level master's degree designation in 2011. In 2020, it gained approval from the Ministry of Education to establish the first Sino-foreign cooperative Artificial Intelligence College, the Zhejiang Gongshang University-Sussex Artificial Intelligence College. This program is a key construction discipline in Zhejiang Province during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" and a first-class discipline during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan." The curriculum is grounded in modern information technology, communication and computer theories, and artificial intelligence, with in-depth research conducted in areas such as network and communication technology, information security and quantum communication, system modeling and advanced control, information transmission and wireless networks, signal detection, and intelligent information processing.

The faculty consists of 100 staff members, including 72 full-time teachers, 22 professors, 32 associate professors, 64 Ph.D. and postdoctoral researchers, 3 Ph.D. supervisors, 40 master's supervisors, and 3 participants in national overseas talent introduction programs.

The program has six provincial platforms, including laboratories for new network standards and applied technology, network and communication experiments, international scientific and technological cooperation in artificial intelligence, innovative teams in open architecture network technology, research bases for artificial intelligence technology and social development, and a Sino-UK joint laboratory for cognitive computing and robotics. The program has closely collaborated with well-known IT enterprises such as H3C, New H3C, and Sinda, as well as numerous renowned domestic and international universities and enterprises. In the past five years, research achievements have earned one second prize from the Ministry of Education, two second prizes for technological progress from Zhejiang Province, and one first and one second prize for natural science from Zhejiang Province. Teaching achievements have been awarded one national second prize and one provincial second prize.

II.Electronic Information (Professional Master's Degree)

Electronic Information is an engineering field that combines electronic technology with information technology to construct a modern information society. Electronic technology utilizes the foundational theories of physical electronics, optoelectronics, microelectronics, and solid-state electronics to address engineering technology problems related to electronic components, integrated circuits, instrumentation, computer design, and manufacturing. Information technology focuses on the theoretical and technical aspects of information transmission, information exchange, information processing, signal detection, and related areas. The School of Information and Electronic Engineering offers a first-level master's degree in this field.

The faculty, consisting of 100 members, includes 72 full-time teachers, 22 professors, 32 associate professors, 64 Ph.D. and postdoctoral researchers, 3 Ph.D. supervisors, 40 master's supervisors, and 3 participants in national overseas talent introduction programs. The school has several provincial platforms, including laboratories for new network standards and applied technology, network and communication experiments, international scientific and technological cooperation in artificial intelligence, innovative teams in open architecture network technology, research bases for artificial intelligence technology and social development, and a Sino-UK joint laboratory for cognitive computing and robotics. Collaborations with well-known IT enterprises and academic institutions have led to the establishment of joint laboratories. In the past five years, research achievements have earned one second prize from the Ministry of Education, two second prizes for technological progress from Zhejiang Province, and one first and one second prize for natural science from Zhejiang Province. Teaching achievements have been awarded one national second prize and one provincial second prize.

The program emphasizes the interdisciplinary fusion of artificial intelligence with disciplines such as electronic information, computer science, control, neuroscience, cognitive science, linguistics, mathematics, psychology, economics, law, and sociology. With a focus on mentorship, personalization, and internationalization, the program, led by the backbone teachers of the School of Information and Electronic Engineering (Sussex Artificial Intelligence College), designs and constructs essential knowledge and practical skills required for artificial intelligence system development. It employs a multi-subject collaborative education mechanism in the field of artificial intelligence and deepens cooperation between academia and industry to enhance students' application and innovation capabilities.

Doctoral Degree Programs

I.Big Data Statistics (Second-level Doctoral Program)

This degree program is open to non-Chinese native speakers with a master's degree or equivalent outstanding qualifications. The goal of the program is to cultivate advanced talents in statistical research, particularly those who can develop new statistical methods in the field of big data analysis and data science. It is designed for graduate students aspiring to secure positions in statistical research in academia, government agencies, or enterprises. The courses aim not only to provide students with a solid foundation in statistical knowledge and skills but also to enhance their practical operational abilities.

II.Artificial Intelligence and Financial Engineering (Second-level Doctoral Program)

Artificial Intelligence and Financial Engineering is an emerging field that applies data-driven artificial intelligence technology to solve financial problems. The objective is to design, develop, and integrate various intelligent methods or systems creatively to address traditional financial engineering problems such as the design and pricing of financial products, quantitative investment, and planning trading strategies, as well as exploring relevant theories and practices in emerging financial directions like blockchain and carbon finance. The main research directions include Computational Finance, Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies, Financial Big Data and Machine Learning, Intelligent Quantitative Trading Systems, and Financial Knowledge Graph Construction.

Computational Finance: This direction primarily investigates the integration of big data and artificial intelligence technology with financial theory for quantitative analysis and eva1uation of financial issues such as market risks and investment strategies.

Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies: This direction focuses on the foundational theories and methods of blockchain and cryptocurrencies, including the design and optimization of data models, transaction execution processes, consensus protocols, and algorithms.

Financial Big Data and Machine Learning: This direction mainly researches the processing theories and methods for numerical, textual, and image data in the financial domain. It utilizes machine learning algorithms to construct financial business models such as credit rating and anomaly detection.

Intelligent Quantitative Trading Systems: This direction primarily explores the theoretical and methodological aspects of implementing optimal trading strategies based on real-time trading data, using financial trading models and artificial intelligence algorithms.

Financial Knowledge Graph: This direction mainly focuses on automatically extracting financial entity nouns and their relationships from massive financial text data. It constructs a knowledge network model to achieve automatic reasoning, risk prediction, and credit rating for financial problems.

These research directions are both independent and interconnected, each with its emphasis and support. Computational Finance serves as the theoretical foundation, Financial Big Data and Machine Learning, as well as Intelligent Quantitative Trading Systems, are essential applied directions, Financial Knowledge Graph provides information support for other directions, and Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies are strategic focuses for the university and the province.
